Routine is a single story and a single story is dangerous.
The greatest danger of routine living is that it steals our freedom by unlearning our creativity.
When you follow the norm, very few people will question you if they ever did. Unfortunately, an unquestioned or unexamined mind does not live well.
If you break the norm, you have to supplement your action with a “Why”. The boldness to break the norm has genius and power in it.
Routine life may be good because its dividend is loyalty. I have also learnt that you do not find yourself until you break something. In fact, you cannot experience a breakthrough without disruptions or breaking something.
He went back to his university to return his certificate. Why? He could not find a job for years. So, he told the Registrar to collect the certificate and return his tuition fees. That was abnormal and he got ridiculed. The news went viral and caught the attention of rich alumni of the university. Financial donations were made and he received capital to start a business. When he got interviewed, he said, “I know I am so talented, if I die poor, God will punish me.”
Everything that is routine today was created by someone who broke convention of the past. Question every routine and you will find out that someone has made a fortune initiating it as a non-routine first. Many people do not find their freedom because they got lost in this routine that has made someone a fortune.
One way to have multiple success stories and escape the danger of routine is mentorship. Freedom is not free because it costs something to search for the truth and apply it consistently.
